Steve was an excellent agent to work with! During my search for a first home, Steve’s excellent knowledge of the downtown market provided me with a portfolio of many value properties with great upside potential and the best available amenities. Given my financial situation as a young professional and as a new grad, Steve was able to negotiate an amazing deal. To summarize the experience, Steve went above and beyond all of my expectations. Steve Hamre is a true real estate professional. Over the past few years he has helped us to secure a condo and then our first family home when we were expecting the arrival of our first child. From the outset, it is was very clear that he possessed an uncommon level of market knowledge on the Ottawa area. This was subsequently demonstrated throughout the viewing process of homes where he provided knowledgeable and impartial advice . Finally what truly impressed us was his follow-through after the deal had closed as he made a deliberate effort to guide us through the process. Above all else, he is incredibly responsive and pleasant in his approach to customer service. I would strongly encourage anyone searching for a real estate agent to use Steve Hamre.

Steve was very helpful in explaining the market and the reality in placing the price of the houses. Very professional, very impressed by his real estate and always answering our questions. He sold two houses for us and have just placed another property to sell for us. He was recommended by our daughter who sold her house.

So I bought a house during COVID.... Where to begin? I had worked with Steve before when I bought my first property a few years ago and it was a great experience, so I didn't hesitate to call on him again for my next purchase. In fact, more than a year out, we met up with him to get the lay of the land again and to renew our communication and indeed, he started sending us info and options right away, patiently waiting more than a year before we indicated that we were ready to take action and start viewing properties. We started viewings in a tough market: low inventory and bidding wars. We could at least feel confident in the insights Steve was sharing. He helped us understand neighbourhood values, property attributes which do or do not justify pricing, preliminary insights into observations that nay come up in home inspections etc. I really liked that he was sure to highlight and risks or downsides when we may have gotten overexcited about a property, indicating absolutely no pressure to rush a deal. Conversely, he also pointed out value-driving aspects that we may have overlooked in other cases to give us a real shot at making a great evaluation and decision. We made two offers, one at asking and one over asking, and were unsuccessful- not surprising given a statistic of multiple bids per property over the last several months! As much as it was disappointing not to get them, we actually were not upset because we felt confident in our value assessment and would not have wanted to pay more than we offered. Then.... COVID happened. In the middle of our search. Steve adapted to these crazy times by immediately implementing safety measures such as bringing gloves to showings and maintaining distance, but all the while keeping things moving for us.... We have reasons compelling us to purchase a house now, so we just could not afford to wait COVID out. Most importantly, his fact-based perspective and measured communication style allowed us to keep calm and just trust the process. So we carried on, and by our third offer, we were successful and it's the best of all the houses we have seen, and at the best price for value we have seen (in this case, asking). We are thrilled! He set us up with an amazing, thorough inspector and happens to be interested in design as well and has generously shared ideas and great contacts for certain reno/design jobs. Oh, and The KICKER: I have a property to rent out! Also during COVID! That has to happen at the same time! I was STRESSED out! I was going to go with a property management company to list my condo but Steve mentioned he did that too, so I though why not. 11 hours after my listing was posted, I have a signed lease, and I'm now an investment property owner. Steve is quick to be in touch, by text or email, doesn't forget things or let things slip through the cracks, really help you navigate the waters and make the process simple and since you end up spending a certain amount of time with your agent, it's good to know that he can hold a conversation and he's really easy to get along with. For 1 million % sure, m buying a house and renting mine out during COVID was looking pretty risky for many, m many reasons, but Steve turned out to be my one-man risk mitigation plan. Thanks to two great deals with Steve over the years, I'm sure I'll be doing more business with him in the years to come, when I buy my third property to add to the portfolio. THANK YOU STEVE!!

We could not have asked for a better experience than the one we had with Steve. He came prepared. He provided facts to back up what he was saying. Steve was able to keep us calm and always answered the phone or returned messages or emails in a very timely fashion. He made us feel like we were his one and only client even though we knew he had many clients at the same time.
