We were first time home buyers and had no idea what we were doing. I'm disabled, so we also had some "non standard" requirements in what kind of house we wanted, where we wanted it, and how I could view the houses. All of this made the process even more stressful. Being treated with respect around my disability helped a lot. We worked primarily with Alison, whom we found to be knowledgeable, helpful, and professional, but also warm and friendly so the whole experience didn't feel too clinical and impersonal. We're happy to say that our new house surpassed our expectations of what we'd be able to find, and we're very excited to move in.

For prospective buyers, why choose a real estate agent who is also a musician? 1. Great listening. Not many people can extract detail from small talk and idle conversation about our habits, preferences, and love for particular neighbourhoods and absorb it as intuitively. I felt like Al was constantly accumulating tiny reference points over time and getting a good feeling for what would suit us so that as soon as the listing for our new home came on the market, she alerted us and recommended that we act fast! I am so glad we did. 2. Confidence. It’s so helpful to have confident professionals guiding the logistics of home viewings, knowing what to ask and pointing details out to us; offering explanations and advice where needed. Just seeing Al in the lobby (always so prompt!) or waiting outside felt reassuring and removed any potential for awkwardness in finding the place or meeting up with the seller’s agent. 3. Fun! Some of my favourite moments during our search were when one seller’s agent sang the song the dishwasher would have made, all the panoramic views we got to take in, when Al texted her clients/friends to find out if there really was a gym in the building as she recalled (there was!) and the occasional raised eyebrow about owners’ dubious remodeling decisions or unusual choice of strategy. 4. Welcoming! We wanted to move to a neighbourhood that felt queer-friendly and well-connected and it was amazing to feel so well represented by expert professionals with such a wealth of experience and knowledge of the life of the city.
