I would highly recommend Craig. His deep knowledge of the neighborhood, his professionalism, his close attention to all the details and his professional legal background were all important especially when we were selling during a tough time in a buyer's market. For anyone buying or selling in Lions Bay there is also the benefit that Craig has his business right in Lions Bay and is very involved in the neighborhood with a strong stake in its success.

Selling or buying a home is not only a significant financial event in one's life, it can be a very emotional time. Craig understands both. He is outstanding in developing relationships based on a genuine desire to know you, your home and your community. Craig is extremely knowledgeable about the housing market and will work diligently to represent you and your home. He is also a gifted communicator. He not only reads people well, he asks questions to avoid making assumptions and makes himself available to respond to requests and concerns. Add a witty sense of humour and joy for life to round out the experience, and we have felt very fortunate to have Craig as our realtor.

<p>I have bought and sold nine residential properties over the years. The client service and support style that I prefer from a realtor is business based. Having the available facts presented, such as they are, and providing support for opinions offered, as best can be done in a real estate market, is/was what I need to make informed decisions. This is specific to what I think are the four primary service attributes in a realtor's contribution to a (successful) residential property sale: what should be the initial list price (or pricing range) and why; when to drop the price and why; by how much to drop and why; and, negotiating strategy. I found that Mr. Doherty's general orientation to the listing and sales process, and his style in client interaction, well approached the type of service and assistance from a realtor that I prefer.</p>

<p>For three years we have enjoyed the stunning panoramic views over Howe Sound from our West Vancouver home, but we were moving to Europe on relatively short notice and therefore our house was put up for sale. Several realtors said that they had serious buyers for a property in our neighborhood but Craig was the only one who really seemed interested in matching our need to sell quickly with the buyers' wish to buy a house that would suit them. He explained the realities of the West Vancouver property market at the time and we worked out a pragmatic approach to price our house to sell. The rest is history because Craig had the right contacts with potential buyers and other realtors to generate interest in our house. Within 10 days after listing, our place was under contract at a price that the buyers and we are satisfied with. We are now looking forward to closing and should we ever return to Vancouver, Craig will be the man we contact first.</p>

<p>We have been lucky to be a part of the Seascapes development since the beginning of Phase 1, and still are owners at Seascapes. We watched our places being built and each of the 4 phases unfold to completion. Seascapes has become a true gem in West Vancouver: private yet accessible, fantastic designs; and then there are the views! Over the years, we have had enough experience with realtors and agents to know how important they are in a successful real estate transaction. We were already aware of a number of agents in the greater Vancouver area and were introduced to a few “newcomers” to the Seascapes area via mailings we received. After considerable research, we chose to proceed by interviewing a short list of top-rated agents, including one who was new to us: Craig Doherty. We interviewed all of the agents much like we were hiring an employee for one of our businesses. We ended up with two who rose to the top of the list of criteria we were using. What made us choose Craig was his determination to succeed ethically in whatever he did in life, and how he presented and handled himself under pressure. Craig made it clear that he did not promise or commit to anything unless he was willing to actually do it. We have dealt with many agents who make the commitments to get the listing, then don’t do the follow through to sell the listing. Craig approached this head on and said that is not how he worked, period. Craig's background in law and his success in business gave us the confidence to take him at his word and trust him; and we weren’t disappointed. It was a refreshing experience working with Craig throughout all phases from the listing to the closing. Craig was eager to learn from us about the intricacies of this development that we love, and repeatedly demonstrated his ability to translate that knowledge and sincerity at numerous open houses and interactions with interested parties. However, where his unique background and skill-set really shone was at the offer stage; his negotiation skills are really quite remarkable. However, you’ll have to engage him to see what we mean: but it will be the best real estate choice you may ever make. We’re happy that we did.</p>
