About Neal Sikkes
When I was thirteen-years-old, my family stopped in Squamish on our way up to Whistler and I told my parents that one day, I would live there. I grew up in Jasper, Alberta, which is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I saw similarities in Squamish that went beyond natural beauty and helped me decide to set down roots. Squamish is a warm, tight-knit community where you know your neighbours, and it provides a life for my family that is fulfilling, rewarding and inspiring. I take pride in the life that my family has found and created here-it is a life of happiness and balance. I am constantly inspired and grateful for where we live and the people I am surrounded by. The mountain bike trails accessible from my doorstep, snowboarding in Whistler, boating in the Howe Sound, climbing, hiking, award-winning softball teams, and a proximity to Vancouver allow the balance of professional pursuits at my fingertips while celebrating all that my hometown has to offer. What Squamish has offered my young family is an incredible support network of inspiring young people living and sharing a unique lifestyle. I am proud of the day-to-day life that I am afforded by having chosen to make Squamish a home for myself, my wife, Isa, and two children, Sonoma and Yarrow.
