Kim grew up in Oakville and graduated from Oakville Trafalgar High School. Her father, Jim, founded Kennedy Ford and spearheaded the construction of the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.

She is an avid golfer and enjoys hiking – with her husband and dog in the many trails and conservation lands around the region, and, with her regular hiking group, throughout southeast Oakville.
