After working with other agents to buy and sell our previous house in the States, FINALLY we had the pleasure of using our favourite agent from start to finish on our recent home purchase here in Calgary!! I understand my last name lends itself to some bias, but I have also been privy to a lot of the behind the scenes work of Simon (and his partner in business and life, Sonya…AKA Dad and Mom to me :)).
When I say work I mean WORK. Simon (Dad) is always on call, always working for his clients. Sonya (Mom) shoulders a ton of behind the scenes work for the business. Growing up in a real estate family, and witnessing the level of care and commitment put in by both my parents, I was underwhelmed by the realtors we used when living in the United States - quickly realizing Simon’s service and commitment to every client is the exception not the norm.
With our recent purchase here in Calgary, we received an email from Simon that a house meeting (or exceeding) all our criteria was just listed. We scheduled a showing, saw the place, wrote an offer (in a highly competitive situation), and had that offer accepted all within one evening! Later we found out that Simon had gone above and beyond - all behind the scenes to secure the house for us (including determining the perfect offer both in price and conditions, negotiate with the seller’s realtor, and ensure that we didn’t pay a dollar more than we needed to). After the offer was accepted he continued to guide us through everything that needed to be done (home inspection, removing conditions, smart financing ideas, recommendations for contractors, pre possession check list, you name it).
Growing up I got to witness Dad’s level of knowledge of the industry and care for his clients’ best interest. Now, it has truly been an honour & blessing to experience it for ourselves. He has always had a soft spot for first time buyers and the education piece of real estate is his passion. His experience in the industry is invaluable and he is so willing to share that with his clients.
Although we probably won’t be buying or selling for a while, we’re the luckiest clients in the world because we still get Simon in our lives on a regular basis. Love you, Dad!
