We initially contacted Christiaan five years ago when we decided that the Comox Valley was where we eventually wanted to retire. He mailed us property updates and opportunities for that time and answered promptly any questions. Last summer (2019) our job situation changed and we knew we would be moving to BC (Mainland Vancouver). We looked at our options and decided to still look at the valley on the Island. We didn't want to move again in a few years and decided to our forever home. We met with Christiaan in Fall and started our search for our next home. What we realized was he not just punctual in his response but he was actually listening and understanding what we were looking for - quite honestly, probably before we understood exactly what we were looking for. He was very patient with us and showed us multiple properties so we he could gauge what we really wanted. It was a long process and the fact we still lived in another Province, he kept his eye out and only recommended properties he knew we could work with. In fact, there were some homes we saw online that he already knew wouldn't work for us when we inquired and because we were so confident in him and his assessment, we never looked. While we were selling our home in Alberta, he communicated with us, checking to see how things were going and kept us informed to what was happening in the valley. This is when he really stepped up and demonstrated why he is one of the best realtors in town. He heard of property that met our needs but wasn't on the market yet. He arranged a showing and when we showed interest, continued the sales discussion, even though the owners never put the home on the market. He basically made it work for both parties even though he wouldn't make the "normal" compensation. He wanted us all to be happy with the deal. We purchased the property and he made it work so smoothly that we were enormously grateful for the lack of stress during a stressful time. He recommended local people such as bankers insurance, trades people and after the sale continued to follow up and visit. He even stopped by one day with a gift for us and visited for an hour. He made our transition very easy to a new community. We would heartily recommend Christiaan to anyone that was looking at moving or selling in the Comox Valley. It was and continues to be a most enjoyable experience.
