I quite inadvertently met Ben whilst house hunting through Inglewood some years back. It was the house I eventually bought that initially caught my attention. My kneejerk was to immediately jump in, but Ben, being the pro that he is, insisted that I not make any rash decisions. So began a protracted buying experience that was not only educational, but ultimately successful. As mentioned, Ben insisted I do a little “due diligence” and took me to a number of other properties that met the criteria for my ideal home. Along the way, I learned a ton about older homes, market dynamics, city planning, and even old-school wiring and plumbing! Ya – he was that thorough. When it came time to negotiate, Ben acted as trustworthy advisor rather than deal-maker. I never had the feeling I was being pushed into anything, and with a few conditions attached, he helped me successfully conclude the purchase of my present home. He even provided me with legal references to help finalize contracts and such – all at very favourable prices. In the end, I came away feeling like I had gotten more than a house; I’d acquired a friend. Little wonder we’re still in touch to this day. Though I haven’t resumed any house-hunting, I have had the proverbial feelers out there from time to time. I always call Ben with any real-estate related questions I might have. He never hesitates to answer. He’s even come by to offer a few practical pointers on what I can do to spruce up my current digs, should I decide I’d like to sell. Who does that these days? Answer: Ben Sweet.
