What fears did you have about buying/selling a home, and how did I help overcome those fears? Our biggest fear was, and is the actual move. After 31 years in this house, there is a lot to do. The house isn’t perfect, naturally, so there is the work to make it ready to sell. There is the work of decluttering and getting rid of “stuff” so that we can downsize. There is the sadness of leaving neighbours who are such good friends, and a neighborhood which has so many good memories. And it’s a neighborhood that we would have liked to stay in due to nearness to so many amenities and convenience. It has a high walkability score. But there are very few bungalows in this neighbourhood and fewer still have been for sale over the past three years. And we need to make this move sooner rather than later. We can’t keep procrastinating! You gave us timelines to prepare for showings, which helped us prepare mentally and physically for selling our house. You called the new house our “dream house”, which helped put it in perspective as a good choice, or actually a near perfect choice for us. Writing out the letter for the seller was helpful in making all of the attributes of the house real. After 3 years of looking at options, there has never been one that met all our wishes. We are confident that this is a good choice for us. 2) What process did you use to select me to work with? We met you during an open house at another house on our street and we’re impressed at your promptness at following up with us and providing us with information. Your regular emails with current listings helped us to learn more about the availability of bungalows in this community. Every question we had was answered and you actively helped us search. You even went door to door in one neighborhood in which we were interested, to see if anyone was thinking of selling. 3) What did I do differently? It’s been many years since we bought or sold a house, so we’re not sure your methods are different from other agents, but you were never pushy, never impatient, and always ethical. You have responded whenever we had an interest in a home, and gave us prompt replies to questions. Your going door to door looking for potential sellers in our neighbourhood was above and beyond what we were expecting.
