About Amy McDermid

My name is Amy, and I’m a Sales Representative with the Jennifer Queen Team, as well as part of the administrative brains behind the business! I started working “behind the scenes” in November of 2012. I come from a strong background in the Customer Service Industry (with over 8 year experience), so real estate seemed like a natural fit!
I was born and raised in the small town of Kenora, Ontario. I grew up very involved in sports and have always enjoyed being part of a team. I love the atmosphere, the friendships, and the comfort of always having the support of someone you trust. That’s why when Jen asked me to join her team back in 2012, I didn’t hesitate! My first love, hockey, is what brought me to Winnipeg back in 2006 when I was recruited to play for the Manitoba Bison’s. I’m what they call a “grinder” which is defined as a player who is better known for their hard work and checking than their scoring. I believe this also describes my work ethic and personality. After attending the University of Manitoba in 2010 I immersed myself into real estate. I became licensed in 2011 and haven’t looked back!
Winnipeg showed me my second love – my husband Chris, who is also from Kenora. Chris and I were friends throughout high school but our love blossomed in November of 2006 when we went on our first date (which I didn’t know was a date until much later). We have been inseparable ever since. Chris and I married in August of 2015 (yes your math is correct, that’s 9 years of dating) in our hometown of Kenora. It was a perfect day, with the exception of the torrential downpour we had all day. Oh, did I mention our wedding was outside? It was a day I’ll never forget!
In January of 2018 Chris and I found out that we were about to start a new adventure. After struggling to start a family and undergoing IVF treatment we found out that we were expecting our new addition October 18th 2018. We met our son, Gavin on his due date and have been celebrating ever since. Gavin is a great mix of both Chris and myself. He is happy, friendly, affectionate, goofy with a touch of dramatic. We love him so much and are so grateful to have him in our lives. In addition to watching our son grow, Chris and I love spending time with our fun, cuddly, stubborn dog, Provie (Yes like the golf ball and/or boat), who we adopted from the Winnipeg Humane Society in 2013. Watching Gavin and our family grow has really put into perspective the magnitude of helping families move. It is such a special time in families lives and I just want to help make the process as fun and easy as possible.
In the summer, if I am not working, you will most likely find our family out golfing, or fishing or camping. I also love spending time in my kitchen. I love the way food makes you feel and I enjoy sharing that with others. The enjoyment I get from watching people eat my food is similar to real estate in that I love helping people find their dream home and the excitement and joy that it brings to them.
I’m very excited to work with families in our community in their search to find somewhere to call “home”. If you’re looking for honesty and awesome customer service, please feel free to call with any questions. I’d love to hear from you!
